The Sex Pistols dedicated their show in Sydney, Australia on Tuesday (April 8) to the late Blondie drummer Clem Burke. The punk legends have been touring with former Gallows vocalist Frank Carter as their frontman, and the singer took a moment to pay tribute to Burke at the start of their set. “Very quickly, I just want to take a moment to dedicate this show to an amazing man, and a friend of the lads, Clem Burke,” Carter said. “An incredible drummer, who sadly passed away yesterday. So tonight is for Clem and it’s for friendship.” Burke, who passed away on Sunday (April 6) at 70, had strong ties to the Sex Pistols through collaborations with bassist Glen Matlock and guitarist Steve Jones. In the early-80’s, Burke played with Jones in Chequered Past, and in 2011, he and Matlock co-founded the International Swingers. Matlock also joined Blondie as a touring bassist in 2022. The Sex Pistols reunion tour continues with upcoming performances scheduled in Europe, the U.K., and North America later in the year. (Rolling Stone)
