On Thursday (April 17), Bruce Springsteen shared the unreleased song, “Blind Spot,” from the Streets of Philadelphia Sessions, part of the seven previously unheard LPs set to be released in Tracks II: The Lost Albums. Long known by fans as the “Drum Loop” album, the Streets of Philadelphia Sessions was recorded in the mid-Nineties at Springsteen’s Los Angeles home with inspiration drawn from hip-hop. Although the Streets of Philadelphia Sessions were completed for a 1995 release, Springsteen chose to shelve the album and reunite with the E Street Band. “I said, ‘Well, maybe it’s time to just do something with the band, or remind the fans of the band, or that part of my work life,’” Springsteen said. “So that’s where we went. But I always really liked ‘Streets of Philadelphia Sessions.’ I thought of putting it out [as a standalone release]. I always put them away, but I don’t throw them away.” Tracks II is set for release on June 27, and includes various unreleased recordings from different periods of Springsteen’s career.
